BookSketches

This was the first book that got me doing "booksketches." I actually got to work on this book as an editor, and I was so impressed with it, I just felt compelled to make notes about it. The Tech Rabbi was so sweet in his response to this sketch, I was hooked!

Horacio Sanchez is one of my heroes! I read this book because I will read ANYTHING I come across that mentions "education" and "brain science," and it did not disappoint. I have read this several times, and I reference it often in teacher trainings. Love it

Shortly after I did this sketch, I was at a conference where the featured speaker was unabashedly trying to sell HIS book on many of the same topics as were featured in this one. Elisabeth Bostwick did a MUCH better job with all of these concepts. Highly recommended!

Sometimes I do a booksketch because *I* want to remember what the book had to say, as well as recommend it to the few people who pay attention to my Twitter posts. That was the case with this one. It's full of gems!

Working for Promethean, I got to see the Ron Clark Academy, and specifically Kim Bearden, in action. She is the teacher I wish I were. Her book will have you wanting to shout "Yes!"

OK, y'all, THIS book hits me right where I live. It just... I can't... basically, I'm speechless that someone wrote such a wise and compassionate book. I think it should be required reading for every educator in the US. Then we could truly change the world!

Tamara Letter has a well-earned reputation for being a "Kindness Guru." She is one of the inspirations behind the "Be a Heartist" series. To be honest, before I read it I wondered how she could fill a whole book without basically saying the same thing over and over, but she did it! This book is chock full of inspiration--another one that should be required reading for every educator.
